Hey, you.
Feeling down?
Is nothing going quite how you like it? Do you not feel like you're in control of things? Are you worried about the future?
Don't worry. You're not alone.
Here are some truths for you:
Things aren't ever going to work out just how you want them to. But that's okay.
Sometimes they turn out better.
Proverbs 19:21 says, "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." (ESV)
It's okay that your plans won't always work out. But guess what? God's plans will.
Here's another truth: you don't need to be in control.
Psalm 9:10 says, "And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you." (ESV)
We should trust God, not our own ability to control things.
Still not convinced? Read Romans 8:28. "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." (ESV)
What are the requirements of these promises?
Trust. And obedience.
Worry and fear will drag us down. Trust will give us strength. And obedience will win us favor in God's eyes.
God's not asking for much. He just wants the best for us.
That, in itself, is an amazing truth. He wants what's best for us.
Wow.
So don't be discouraged. Give up your fear, your imagined control. Let God take the lead. Then follow.
