What Do You Want for Christmas?

What do you want for Christmas?

Like, not a gift. It can be a physical object, but if it could be anything in this world. A job, a relationship, a new life.

What do you want more than anything?

Is it achievable? Is it something that you can reach someday?

Let’s see if we can get it for you.

1. Pray.

Do you believe prayer works? I believe that God hears us and will respond in some way. He knows everything, so He knows your deepest, most secret desires. But He likes you to ask Him. Much like a parent who knows what their child needs but likes to be asked for certain things and not be taken for granted, God wants us to ask Him, and He does answer. Most likely, it won’t be an immediate granting of whatever your wish is, though it could be. Sometimes it’ll take a little time, or He’ll give you what you actually need instead of what you think you need. But prayer works. Don’t discredit it.

2. Do your part.

Prayer is super important, but that doesn’t mean you can sit back and wait for God to do whatever it is you want. Most of the time, there’s something you can do to reach your goal. If you’re praying for a new job, I guarantee you’ll find one a lot faster if you actually start applying to different places. If you want to find a boyfriend, sitting at home and praying every night for one isn’t your best bet. You could get out and meet new people. God does do miracles, but you need to do your part. In my life, while I can’t publish my next book right now, I’m focusing on my blog and social media, doing what I can now to grow my following. There’s always something you can do while you’re waiting on God’s answer. I encourage you to stop and think about what you could be doing right now to achieve whatever it is you desire most.

3.Find peace.

There may be something you can’t get, even though you want it more than anything. Maybe a loved one passed away, and you’d give anything to have them back. Maybe you want a father, since your dad left when you were little. Sometimes you can’t get the deepest desire of your heart. But that doesn’t mean you can never be completely happy. God can fill the hole in your heart again. He can bring something different, maybe even better, and change your life that way. The way to find peace again is to go to God. Give Him the little you have and ask Him to transform you. Ask for His peace, the peace that passes understanding. He will answer you, I promise.

So there it. Is. Talk to God, tell Him what it is you want so badly. Then act. Do the next thing that you can do to achieve your goal. Finally, rest in God’s peace that no matter what happens, He has your best interest at heart. He won’t let you down.
